Today, in an earnings call, Ubisoft revealed that the next game in the “Assassin’s Creed” series will feature an online multiplayer mode. This is a first in a series that has, until now, been a strictly solo experience.
Anyway, the above screenshot is taken from “Assassin’s Creed 2.” Specifically it’s from a secret video that players can unlock by solving hidden puzzles in the game. The video shows two people climbing atop a futuristic tower. A glimpse into “Assassin’s Creed 3″? Doubtful, given that the video is actually set in the distant past, a supposed look at the real Garden of Eden which was, according to the franchise, created by a race of technologically superior aliens. Yep, believe it.
It’s unlikely that the multiplayer component in “Assassin’s Creed 3″ will be the main part of the game, as the earnings report just described it as having “an online multiplayer mode.” Expect multiplayer free-running time trials across the rooftops of, I don’t know, London during the time of Jack the Ripper? Sure, that sounds like fun, lets go with that.
