So Konami has broken their current silence regarding the possibility of a trophy patch for Metal Gear Solid 4 recently on the Kojima Productions Podcast this past week. Ever since Trophies were introduced in July 2008, the hordes of Metal Gear Solid fans have been screaming at Konami and Kojima Productions for an update to give Old Snake immortality by being encased in Platinum goodness.
“Just to address one issue that we’ve been getting a lot of comments about. And this, of course, about trophies.
I just wanna tell everybody out there right now that your voices are being heard and that we’re not ignoring you. We hear everything that you are saying. It’s just that we can’t say anything just yet.
But as soon as we have something to say, we will announce it. So, if we can just ask everyone to just be patient, we will give you an answer. But right now we can’t say anything. So we just ask for everyone’s understanding with that and just ask for everybody to remain patient and we’ll let you know.” – Sean Eyestone
We all know that Metal Gear Solid 4 was released on June 12, 2008, just a month before trophies were introduced on the Playstation 3. Trophies did not become a mandatory requirement for developers until January 2009, and yet many developers are retrofitting their older titles to include trophy support to appease their fans and help solidify their fan base. With Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots being one of the best selling games for the Playstation 3 to date, it would be a natural choice for an update and it would be a very wise move for Konami and Kojima Productions to follow through and release a patch. It would give the single player story mode a new fresh breath of air delivered to Solid Snake’s aging lungs and potentially lure new fans to the series with the release of trophies.
I’ll end this article on this last note:
Konami and Kojima please hear our pleas and provide us with the trophy patch,
I think you guys have toyed with our emotions long enough with statements like this.
