By now we all have caught a glimpse at Sony’s new motion controller that was showcased during E3 of this year. In a recent
Playstation Blog interview with Richard Marks and Anton Mikhailov from the Playstation Research and Development Department, new information was revealed about the mysterious controller. Towards the end of the video interview, you’ll hear about the addition of the rumble feature and the analog trigger.
The rumble feature will obviously provide feedback with interactable objects and textures such as a bumpy wall or a buzzing chainsaw. This feature was kind of a no-brainer that it would be included in this new motion controller that still does not have an “official” name at this time.
Another new feature revealed is the addition of the “analog trigger” that will provide a new level of interaction such as the ability to grand and hold objects. Mark also touched on how the Playstation Eye will track the movement of the controller providing object depth and screen placement. This new motion controller is starting to peak my interest a little more, at first glance at E3 this controller looked a bit gimmicky, but now that some of it’s features are being fleshed out it’s becoming more intriguing.

It seems to me that sony is truly trying to completely monopolize the video-gaming market. Sony has already blown the x-box 360 out of the water with the features recently added in the more recent updates of the PS3. However, in Sony’s everlasting search for power and monopolizing, this motion controller will give the Wii a run for it’s money, that is if it is up for the challenge, so far, in it’s beta testing mode, we don’t know a whole lot, more is yet to be seen i am sure.
