So, later on, after you’ve been attacked by dozens of lames on Live or Playstation Home, you decide to hop on the internet and check out your favorite gaming sites, to find out the latest gaming news. While surfing one website, you see an ad that says “Meet girl gamers now!” The next site you visit has a section for “Babe of the Day”. What is the deal?! Why are we not treated as equals in the gaming industry? So many females are part of the big corporations that make these video games that all you little boys love to love, so why don’t we get our props? It’s getting to be so bad that some girls are starting to create neutral Gamer Tags and PSN IDs just to avoid being hit on by guys. More girls are also starting to play under their boyfriends, husbands, or brothers’ accounts in order to avoid being chastised by guys. Now don’t get me wrong, I’ve seen my fair share of girls camwhoring online, but most girls just want to be able to play and be left alone! We will never be treated fairly as long as these “Babes of the Day” and “Hook up with a Girl Gamer Today!” ads are being created. Girls, we have to stand up for ourselves! If we don’t, who will? Oh, and guys, the next time you see a girl in your CoD game, treat her like you would any other fellow gamer. Don’t underestimate us or ‘take it easy’ on us, because we will surely destroy you upon sight.

Girl Gamers, STAND UP!!
Let’s set the scene: It’s 11 pm, and you’re winding down from a long day. You decide to turn on your 360 and play a game or two of Uno. A few seconds (not exaggerating) into your game, you hear multiple male voices talking about how sexy your avatar looks and “hey, girl, you got a cam?” This is a G-Rated recap of what happens anytime a girl gamer is seen on the 360 or ps3. It’s ridiculous. It’s almost as if these boys (yes, boys) have never seen a female before! Honestly, how can you even find an avatar, (which is fictional and especially on the 360, very poorly created) attractive?? It’s just not normal!

It’s like you read my mind completely, I think I’m going to spend my time on this site since I’m liking the articles a lot.
Well, you’re party right. So far, I haven’t suffered much from these situations, but yah, I have experienced them – though, when playing online, not boosting and not playing co-op situations, I mostly have my mike muted, volume tuned down to zero and not wearing the headset…
I have experienced a guy attacking me and calling me a bitch because I said something in the lobby(don’t remember the exact same situation though…) but those persons are unavailable online, gaming or not.
But to sum up, yes we are the minority, and yes I often get “you’re a girl?!” reaction when I reveal my gender – and mostly people just assume that I’m a 12 year old boy… lol.
Anyhow, visit my website, it’s for girl gamers, and it’s gonna be a blast!!
damn… I nment “partly” and “unavoidable”
Wow, I am really late in reading this, but hon, you already know where I stand on this. The reason I joined (and am now Lead Editor for) GirlGamer.com is because it’s community and gaming news first. Period. We do have the occasional guy join but we do NOT tolerate trolling, much less hitting on the girls.
When I play on XBox Live, I tend to leave my mic off unless I have something to say. This is mostly because I feel like I’m representing girl gamers everywhere. Every once in a while some guy will tell me to suck it or something, to which I insult him so bad everyone laughs and he quits the game. LOL
And BTW, nice site, Twinkling82!! Good for you, girl.
